The most beautiful rental villas in Lapland

PolarHouse has been designing warm and functional holiday homes in Lapland's fell areas since 2000. Many of the holiday homes have been built for the builders' own use, but there are also many houses intended for rental use. We have listed some of PolarHouse's rental properties, which you can use as inspiration for designing your own holiday home or rental cottage.

Villa Alvo in Levi

Levi is Lapland's most significant tourist attraction, easily accessible by plane, car, or train. In addition to downhill skiing, Levi offers tourists a wide range of activities and an extensive service network.

For the builder of Villa Alvo, the location in Levi was a key factor. When a vacant lot was finally found in the popular Taalo area, the construction project with PolarHouse was launched. The area plan stipulates that the exterior of the house must be round logs, but this was not desired for the interior. Whitewashed log paneling gives the interior of the villa a modern and spacious look.

"The cottage was primarily designed for business purposes and has been available for rent since the beginning of the year. Bookings have exceeded expectations, especially from British and German customers," says the builder.

Villa Minna in Yllästunturi

Building is a big project, but it can be made easier by combining resources with someone else who wants to build. This is how the rental semi-detached house consisting of Villa Minna and Villa Outi came about, with construction starting on a cottage plot acquired from Metsähallitus near Yllästunturi.

The builders wanted to build a high-quality vacation villa on the plot for rental use. The PolarHouse house package was customized according to the builders' wishes, and, for example, the saunas were placed in the yard with separate entrances.

"A semi-detached house allows you to maximize your building rights efficiently without additional costs. Savings are made in design, materials, transport, and energy costs. Of course, building together requires good communication, regular meetings, project management, and a shared vision of the end result," says the owner of Villa Minna.

Milis Chalet in Ylläsjärvi

When the Swiss-Finnish Brunner family began planning to build their own rental villa in the familiar surroundings of Ylläs, there were hardly any suitable holiday cottages in the area for groups of more than 10 people. A suitable house model was found when PolarHouse's Taiga model was customized to accommodate 10–15 people.

When designing the villa, the family listened to tips from a local accommodation company:

"They told us that vacationers value space, practicality, and appearance. The house has 5 bedrooms and 3 toilets and showers, as well as a high level of equipment: charging points for 2 electric cars, fiber optic connection, and remotely controlled heating. We got practical and functional space solutions for a carefree vacation," says the father of the family.

The family only spends a few weeks a year at their villa, but it is in high demand and has a high occupancy rate. Renting is easy through a local rental company and direct sales. Many families and groups from Finland and abroad stay at the villa.

Holy Moly in Pyhätunturi

Building plots near Pyhätunturi are usually on slopes and require a basement to be built partially underground. This is how the 203-square-meter, three-story Holy Moly villa was created. The ground floor of the villa has a carport and snowmobile garage with a ski maintenance table, sauna and utility rooms, and a fireplace room. The middle floor has a spacious and bright living room-kitchen and two double bedrooms. Upstairs, there are three bedrooms, each with two beds, and a separate bathroom with a shower.

Holy Moly can sleep up to 12 people, so there is plenty of room even for larger groups. The layout is designed so that those returning from the slopes or ski trails can take their skis directly to the lower floor to change clothes and maintain their equipment.

Villa Asteli in Pelkosenniemi

You can build your dream cottage even if you have no previous experience in construction. This was achieved by a couple from Helsinki, who ended up building a holiday cottage for rent on the shores of Lake Pyhäjärvi in Pelkosenniemi. Lakeside plots are rarely available in the area, so the couple seized the opportunity when one became available.

The construction project was based on PolarHouse's Aava model, with a slightly customized floor plan. The cottage's accommodation is designed to suit 10 people. The house was completed in time for Christmas 2024 and has been continuously rented out ever since. The cottage offers vacationers first-class amenities, modern design, and the perfect escape to the peace and quiet of nature, just a few minutes from the village services.

Particular attention was paid to the interior design of the cottage:

"I wanted the interior to be warm and inviting, with lots of muted autumn colors. The interior design is important for creating the right atmosphere. It can bring to a rental cottage the kind of pleasure that I myself look for in a vacation destination. I didn't want a standard cottage, but something extra that sets it apart from the rest," says the cottage's builder.
