Customized Aava 120 model cottage in Levi with excellent connections

Sergei Pavlov had a clear vision when he decided to build his dream cottage in Levi. He wanted a high-quality, luxurious space for his own needs, as well as a high-end rental cottage. After lengthy planning and careful consideration, Sergei chose PolarHouse to make his dream a reality.

”I ended up with a modified version of the Aava 120 model", Sergei explains. "The cottage was designed primarily for business purposes and has been available for rent since the beginning of the year. Bookings have exceeded expectations, especially from British and German customers."

The popular tourist destination of Levi was the only option for Sergei. Finding a plot of land was challenging at first, but he eventually managed to find a suitable location in the Taalo area, close to Kittilä Airport. “The area is in high demand, and the flight connections make it easily accessible for international guests,” Sergei explains.

A customized cottage with top features

One of the deciding factors in choosing PolarHouse was their ability to meet both the design requirements and local zoning regulations. "The zoning regulations required a round log structure, but I didn't want it to be visible inside," Sergei explains. PolarHouse offered exactly what he was looking for and customized the cottage according to his wishes.

Sergei had a clear vision of the cottage's appearance from the outset. "I wanted a high living room and large windows with a direct view of the terrace – those were non-negotiable," he says. “The cabin also had to be 1 ½ stories high.” The exterior was finished in brown, as specified in the plan, and light white washed log paneling was chosen for the interior, creating a modern and spacious feel.

Small changes, big impact

Although the Aava 120 model served as a solid foundation, Sergei made a few carefully considered changes and material choices for the cottage. The technical facilities were placed on the side of the cottage. "I changed the material of the sauna to tar pine and added a slate wall and floor to make the bathroom stand out," he says. Sergei also chose a particularly light and durable laminate floor for the open kitchen, living room, and bedrooms. The cottage also has an energy-efficient geothermal heating system that provides both heating and cooling.

The cottage also has a lot of remote-controlled smart technology. "I can control everything remotely, from the lights and hot tub to charging my electric car," Sergei says. The cottage is also equipped with cameras and smart locks, which ensure safety and comfort both for personal use and for rental purposes.

Smooth cooperation with PolarHouse

Construction work began in August 2023, and the cottage was completed in early 2024. Sergei was very pleased with PolarHouse's support throughout the process. "The cooperation went really well," he recalls. “I always got help when I had questions, and Jarkko from the PolarHouse office in particular deserves full marks.”
